winter storage
Posted by p.phresh under my life
My car is officially stored for the winter… yah maybe a few weeks late, but nonetheless stored.
There was no snow on the main roads, and most of the roads were dry, so this last weekend was probably the best and last opportunity i’ll have to finally get this over with.
After going to the gym i immediately went over to my parents’ house. The front driver’s side tire was flat, so i fired up the air compressor and filled it up. My summer wheels were still on the car so having no snow on the ground was a good thing. I filled the tire up and i drove down to gas up the car, topped it up and then went for a wand wash. Since it was such a nice day out, there were wuite a few people washing their cars too.
Eventually i got in there and spent about $12 on washing it, I spent my time making sure it was well washed. Everything was cleaned and wiped down, and i drove home slowly avoiding wet spots and snow. I think i drove 40km/h most of the way. I didn’t want to kick up any dirt.
Finally i got back to my parents’ house and i changed all four summer wheels and threw on the winter wheels. I understand that no one will be driving the car, but I didn’t want the car sitting there with the summer wheels on and possibly causing flat spots or tarnishing the lip of the wheels.
Once i got the car in place on the corner of the driveway, i disconnected the battery and tried to remove it but i couldn’t get one of the bolts off so it’s staying in the car for the winter. I’ll have to charge it up in the spring before i’ll be able to drive it though. I put the car cover on it and now it’s ready for the 5 month deep freeze.
